Some days ago, we had discussed the turmeric plant seeding process. So, at this time I would like to discuss how the processing of growing medium on turmeric crops. The things that must be considered in the processing of growing medium are : land preparation, land clearing, establishment of seedbeds, and fertilizing before planting. These stages must be considered and should be implemented properly to get the maximum results.

Turmeric Cultivation

Here are several stages should be implemented in Turmeric Cultivation :
  • Land Preparation
  • Planting location can be either dry land, estate, or a yard too. Preparation of land for turmeric crop should be done 30 days before the planting the seeds.
  • Land Clearing
  • Arable land to be cleared of weeds and hoe used manually or by using mechanical devices to create a loose layer of top soil and sub soil also simultaneously restore soil fertility. Ground is then dug to a depth of 20-30 cm, and then rested for 1-2 weeks for toxic gases in the soil evaporates and there are germs that could die because of exposure to sunlight.
  • Establishment of Seedbeds
  • Beds of land created by the width of 60-100 cm and 25-45 cm high with 30-50 cm spacing between beds.

  • To maintain soil friability, increased nutrients in the soil, drainage, and aeration are smooth, done by sprinkling the basic fertilizer (manure) into the land or the planting hole and left for 1 week. Each planting hole requires manure from 2.5 to 3 kg.
